New Lecturing Position

On 1 April 2023, i started at Stellenbosch University (South Africa) as a lecturer in the Computer Science division. It turns out not to have been an April Fool’s joke, because i’m still employed at the uni (;

At the moment, i’m working out the curriculum for my Honours degree course that i’ll be teaching next year. The topic is Cognitive Robotics. Broadly, the course will consist of three parts:

Part 1 – Knowledge & Logic

  • Propositional Logic
  • First-Order Logic
  • Deterministic Automated Planning
  • Logic Programming – Prolog

Part 2 – Probability & Reasoning

  • Probability Theory (for CogRob)
  • Probabilistic Reasoning over Time
  • One-Shot Decisions under Uncertainty
  • Knowledge Compilation (w/ Logic)
  • Probabilistic Logic Programming – ProbLog

Part 3 – Planning & Learning

  • Sequential Decision Processes under Uncertainty (Probabilistic Planning)
  • Intro to Reinforcement Learning
  • An Agent Architecture Case Study
